Post-independence history-
In the post-independence India, it is mentioned once again in 1949 when two autonomous states of Tehri Garhwal and Rampur were mixed in the United Provinces. With the introduction of the new constitution in 1950, the United Provinces were named as Uttar Pradesh and it became the constitution of the new Union of India. Just after the formation of Uttar Pradesh, there was a mess in this area. It was felt that due to the vast population of the state and geographical dimensions, it is impossible to take care of the interests of the people of Uttarakhand for the sitting government in Lucknow. Due to lack of basic amenities like unemployment, poverty, drinking water and suitable infrastructure and the development of the area, the people of Uttarakhand had to move.

In the beginning the movement was somewhat weak, but in the 1990s it got a strong hold and it reached its culmination in Muzaffarnagar in 1994. 20 km from the border of Uttarakhand The martyr's memorial at Rampur, in Muzaffarnagar district of far away state, is a silent witness of the movement, where on October 2, 1994, there were about 40 people of agitated police bullets.
